Default Dressmaker Mystery

Hello! I'm brand new here! I purchased a Dressmaker sewing machine. It does not have the manual and I have spent countless hours trying to to find a copy. Please help! It appears to be a 1692 TW. I saw an identical model online that is a Good Housekeeping label instead of Dressmaker...but no manual.

Welcome to the board!
If you don't mind paying for it, maybe one of these will work for you?
https://manualsoncd.com/product-cate...ction-manuals/

There may be other sites online where you can find one for free...don't know

Here is a little info for you about your Dressmaker:
https://silverbobbin.com/dressmaker-...achine-models/

and you may find other enthusiasts and/or more info here:
https://www.victoriansweatshop.com/

and this site offers a lot of info if you know the manufacturer:
https://ismacs.net/
https://ismacs.net/free-sewing-machi...uals-list.html

have fun

If I remember correctly, Dressmaker is a "badged" machine, which means that it is a machine made by a company to sell to several different retailers.

Post a photo of your machine. If you go to the area below where it says, "Go Advanced", you can post a photo from there. Someone may recognize the original maker from the photos.

Janey is really good at finding manuals. Victorian Sweatshop is a great resource (Janey posts there, too). They may even have a manual in their files when you figure out the manufacturer.

There aren't any manuals for this Dressmaker on VSS that I can find. I know there is a facebook group that has lots of manuals, but I don't do facebook. I think it is "vintage sewing machines not singer" I'm not sure if it is only for Japanese machines and I believe that the TW after the model number may mean that it was made in Taiwan. Seems like I have seen a similar machine, but probably without a manual.

We like pictures. In order to post pictures on Quilting Board, you will probably need to reduce or compress the picture to a file size that is smaller than 2MB. How to post images can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...020-01-17-.pdf and on an ipad at Posting Pictures From an iPad

Don't forget to scroll over to the far right to find and click on the "Upload" button. As shown at Standard Sewing Machine Co. Paragon

I have found that only the big red "Reply" button or "Quote" work to give me the paper clip icon to work for adding pictures.
https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...p-location.jpg

Some additional info regarding reducing images at post #4 and images for the scroll and upload button can be found at #5 of quilt block ID?

Another way to post pictures can be found at 2021/2022, 2.5” Birthday Swap
And how to use an ipad to post pictures can be found at Uploading photos and Posting Pictures From an iPad

Or simply - Make sure pictures are smaller than 2MB
Click on red "Reply" button
Click on the paper clip icon
Click browse - choose picture/s. (only 5 allowed per post)
Once they show up as being loaded, Scroll over to the right side and click on "Upload"
After the pictures show up as being attached, you can close that window and go back to the screen to finish posting your post.

Some additional notes -
The photos generally need to be reduced to less than 2MB in size. I have heard of people sending an email to themselves as it will ask if you want to reduce the size.

I have an android phone and when I tried to reply on Quilting Board while in mobile view None of the options for adding pictures was available. However, there is an option down at the bottom left of the page that is for Full Site when I tapped on "Full Site" It then looked like the way it looks on my lap top. So it would have the Red Reply and the Go Advanced options.

Do Not Preview post.

Hello! Thank you for the warm welcome and for your helpful info!!! I've attached some images (At least, I think I have. I think I'm having more success with this website on my laptop instead of my android phone. Thank you, Ourworkbench for your detailed instructions! ). I checked out manualsoncd.com and Victorian Sweatshop and I didn't have much luck. Maybe these pictures of my machine will help shine some light on it. Thanks again for any additional help!

Nice looking machine. I wasn't expecting it to be made in Japan. There should be a J-A or J-C number on the bottom somewhere, sometimes in is on the underside of the lip and sometimes other places. It tells a bit about said numbers and probably some other (badged) names that would be on similar machines at http://www.doubleveil.net/zssmp/resources.htm#jajc
